Daily Prayer
Tuesday, June 15th, 2010The Word for wisdom:
Proverbs 15:3 (HCSB)
The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, observing the wicked and the good.
The Word for inspiration:
Psalm 119:9-16 (HCSB)
9 How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping Your word. 10 I have sought You with all my heart; don’t let me wander from Your commands. 11 I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You. 12 Lord, may You be praised; teach me Your statutes. 13 With my lips I proclaim all the judgments from Your mouth. 14 I rejoice in the way [revealed by] Your decrees as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate on Your precepts and think about Your ways. 16 I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.
My observation:
A concerned mother called my radio program several years ago requesting prayer for her son. I wrote her prayer request in the margins of my bible next to our section of the above Psalm. The request that this mother made was, “Pray for my son’s life”. I did not have this bible with me at the radio studio so this request was still lingering in my heart during one of my devotional times of reading through the scriptures.
I am encouraged by the Proverb which says that, “The eyes of the Lord are everywhere”. You may be a wayward son in a far country, but wherever you may be in this world, you are within the sight of the sovereign God. The God of the bible is everywhere at the same time.
Psalm 139:7-10 (HCSB)
7 Where can I go to escape Your Spirit? Where can I flee from Your presence? 8 If I go up to heaven, You are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, You are there. 9 If I live at the eastern horizon [or] settle at the western limits, 10 even there Your hand will lead me; Your right hand will hold on to me.
The bible has answers for any life situation you may be facing. Sinners try to hide from God, but you cannot run and you cannot hide from God. Rather than run from God, why not turn to God? He knows who you are, where you are, and He is able to meet your needs. The wise person takes refuge in God.
My prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I am so grateful and thankful for the eyes of the Lord that are watching over my life.
Father God, I could not make it through this dark and dangerous world without the help of the Lord in my life.
Father God, I pray that you would watch over each person who reads this Word, and that they would take heed to your Word, and find shelter from the storms of life in your loving arms.
