Daily Prayer

The Word:

Proverbs 4:10-13 (HCSB) 10 Listen, my son. Accept my words, and you will live many years. 11 I am teaching you the way of wisdom; I am guiding you on straight paths. 12 When you walk, your steps will not be hindered; when you run, you will not stumble. 13 Hold on to instruction; don’t let go. Guard it, for it is your life.

My observation:

The plea to the son to choose the pathway of wisdom is the theme of this chapter. There are two paths available to each of us as we travel through this world. There is the path of the righteous and the path of the wicked.

The path that any godly parent would teach their children to follow is the path of the righteous. It is the way of wisdom, and the book says that nothing compares to this way.

Proverbs 3:13-15 (HCSB) 13 Happy is a man who finds wisdom and who acquires understanding, 14 for she is more profitable than silver, and her revenue is better than gold. 15 She is more precious than jewels; nothing you desire compares with her.

The path of wisdom is a straight path. When you travel through life on this path you will not stumble. On this path your walk will be unhindered, and when you run you will not stumble. This is not to say that life will be a piece of cake, but you will make it to the finish and receive the prize. You will be able to say like the Apostle Paul said at the end of his journey.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 (HCSB) 7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 8 There is reserved for me in the future the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give me on that day, and not only to me, but to all those who have loved His appearing.

My inspiration:

Psalm 32:10-11 (HCSB) 10 Many pains come to the wicked, but the one who trusts in the Lord will have faithful love surrounding him. 11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones; shout for joy, all you upright in heart.

My prayer:

Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I cry out to you for the sons and daughters that you have entrusted to us who are parents.

Father God, these precious ones belong to you, and not to us. Lord, as a steward I pray that we will be good stewards and teach our children to walk the straight path.

Father God, and when they stray, I pray that they will make a U turn, and get back on the straight path that will take them safely to our heavenly Father’s house.
