Title: Only God Has a Record of Unbroken Promises
Text:
Joshua 21:43-45 (HCSB)
43 So the Lord gave Israel all the land He had sworn to give their fathers, and they took possession of it and settled there. 44 The Lord gave them rest on every side according to all He had sworn to their fathers. None of their enemies were able to stand against them, for the Lord handed over all their enemies to them. 45 None of the good promises the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed. Everything was fulfilled.
Observation:
This account given near the end of the book of Joshua is of great encouragement to all of God’s people; not just to the Jews of that day.
One of the things that you can count on is that if God says it in His Word; He is faithful to fulfill what He promises.
This truth should serve to strengthen our faith in God. It should affect how we believe and how we behave.
It does not get any better than this.
Joshua 21:45 (HCSB)
None of the good promises the Lord had made to the house of Israel failed. Everything was fulfilled.
The experience of the people then is more than just history. It was their story, but it can also be your story. Their God is our God, and He is still a promise-keeping God.
1 Corinthians 1:9 (NLT)
God will do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Prayer:
Our Father in heaven, my dear Father, I am so thankful that in this changing world that there is a God in heaven who does not change. Father, I thank You for being our hope and our help; and most of all for being the solid rock who is forever faithful. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
