Have You Experienced the Power of An Encouraging Word?

Text:

2 Chronicles 15:1-7 (ESV)

1  The Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded,

2  and he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The LORD is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.

3  For a long time Israel was without the true God, and without a teaching priest and without law,

4  but when in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.

5  In those times there was no peace to him who went out or to him who came in, for great disturbances afflicted all the inhabitants of the lands.

6  They were broken in pieces. Nation was crushed by nation and city by city, for God troubled them with every sort of distress.

7  But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”

Observation:

The world that we live in has always had problems. However, there is goodnews from the one who created the world.

John 16:33 (ESV)

33  I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

Do you know that you have the power within you to help others overcome the problems that they face in their life?

Each of us who has the Spirit of God living in us has the power to allow the Spirit of God to work through us to encourage others. Those of you who have been through troubles, and found God to be faithful can use those experiences to encourage others when they go through a season of trouble.

Why not make that phone call today, and arrange a face to face meeting with someone you know who needs to hear an encouraging word from a trusted soul.

2 Chronicles 15:7 (ESV)

7  But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded.”

Prayer:

Father, thank You for connecting me with this encouraging word, and planting in my heart the desire to share it with others in the hope that many will act upon it as I intend to do today. In the might name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)
10  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

What Do You Say About Living & Dying?

Text:

Philippians 1:21-26 (HCSB)

21  For me, living is Christ and dying is gain.

22  Now if I live on in the flesh, this means fruitful work for me; and I don’t know which one I should choose.

23  I am pressured by both. I have the desire to depart and be with Christ—which is far better—

24  but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you.

25  Since I am persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,

26  so that, because of me, your confidence may grow in Christ Jesus when I come to you again.

Observation:

This is what the Apostle Paul said about living and dying.

Philippians 1:21 (AMP)

21  For me to live is Christ [His life in me], and to die is gain [the gain of the glory of eternity].

The phrase from this verse that resonates with me is, “For me to live is Christ”. Yes, Christ alive; living in me gives me a reason to be hopeful, and fruitful. There are two hymns that I am singing in my heart.

“Living for Jesus, a life that is true,

Striving to please Him in all that I do;

Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,

This is the pathway of blessing for me.”

When Jesus lives in you and me we can’t help but have His character reflected in our living and our service.

“Lord, help me live from day to day

In such a self-forgetful way

That even when I kneel to pray

My prayer shall be for others.”

Prayer:

Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, I thank You for providing the divine presence of Jesus in the hearts of Your people. Father, help us, and empower us to live for Christ in this present world. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
