God Speaks – Hear The Word of God

The Wisdom of the Proverbs:

Proverbs 26:17 (NLT)

Interfering in someone else’s argument is as foolish as yanking a dog’s ears.

The Encouragement of the Psalms:

Psalm 99:1 (NLT)

The LORD is king! Let the nations tremble! He sits on his throne between the cherubim. Let the whole earth quake!

The Hope of the Old Testament:

Psalm 99:9 (NLT)

Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy mountain in Jerusalem, for the LORD our God is holy!

The Gospel Message:

Titus 2:1-3 (NLT)

As for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects wholesome teaching.

Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience.

Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honors God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good.

Observation:

Today is a glorious day to give praise and thanksgiving to God. What a difference we could make in influencing others if we would learn the wisdom revealed in the Proverb featured today by staying out of someone else’s argument.

Instead, exalting the Lord our God and giving glory and honor to His most holy and righteous name is not just better, but the best use of our time. God does not need our praise, but it sure does wonders for us when we have an attitude of gratitude.

I am so blessed, encouraged, and fired up by the following encouragement by to Titus. O, to be like Titus and be blessed with a mentor like Paul.

Titus 2:11-14 (NLT)

For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.

And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with wisdom, righteousness, and devotion to God,

while we look forward with hope to that wonderful day when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.

He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds.

Prayer:

Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, we give You the highest praise our hearts can conceive, and we speak it with our mouths with joy and appreciation for the love and grace of God that You have so lavishly given to Your children. Holy is the Lord; You are God all by yourself; there is none like You.

1 Samuel 3:10 (NLT)
10  And the LORD came and called as before, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel replied, “Speak, your servant is listening.”

How Great is Your God?

Text:

Psalm 8:1 (KJV)

1 O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Observation:

This Psalm is known as one of the creation Psalms. Other Psalms included in this category are these.

Psalm 19:1 (ESV)

1 The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Psalm 33:6 (ESV)

6  By the word of the LORD the heavens were made, and by the breath of his mouth all their host.

Psalm 104:1-2 (ESV)

1  Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, you are very great! You are clothed with splendor and majesty,

2  covering yourself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent.

Chris Tomlin – Lyrics “How Great is Our God”

“Age to age He stands

And time is in His hands

Beginning and the end

Beginning and the end

The Godhead Three in One

Father Spirit Son

The Lion and the Lamb

The Lion and the Lamb

Name above all names

Worthy of our praise

My heart will sing

How great is our God”

Is this God your God? Then, why not lift your voice, and give the praise and the thanks that is due to Him. I think I will memorize this verse; the address will be easy to remember; Just think about He is number one.

Psalm 111:1 (ESV)

1   Praise the LORD! I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation.

Prayer:

Father, hallowed be Thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

I extol and exalt You, my God and my Father.  O King, You are the one in whom my soul delights. Lord, I give thanks to You with my whole heart. Lord, I can’t wait to leave the house today, and seek out those who are willing to give praise and thanks to You. Father, lead and guide me to the company of the upright.

Father, the sacrifice of praise I offer up to You with my lips, I pray that my family, friends, and neighbors everywhere will join me in lifting their voices in praise and thanksgiving to our Father in Heaven. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Psalm 150:6 (ESV)

6  Let everything that has breath praise the LORD! Praise the LORD!

The Blessings of Being a Worshipper

Text:

Psalm 29:2 (KJV)

2  Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.

Observation:

I have observed over my lifetime the inexpressible joy that comes into the lives of God’s people when they recognize the source of their hope and their help as coming from the Lord, and they give Him the praise and the thanks that are due to Him.

I saw that expressed yesterday in the Facebook update of one of my dear friend’s daughter who graduated from college on Sunday.

Have you experienced the blessing that the Psalmist expressed in our text, and which my friend expressed in a Facebook update because of the what the Lord did for her in allowing her to reach one of her lofty goals?

One of the things that she said that got my attention was this, “I feel blessed beyond belief”.

I get what she was saying. It is amazing how blessed we are when we give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name; when we worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

The acquiring of knowledge is a wonderful thing. However, faith in God will take you further than knowledge alone could ever take you; faith will take you into the very presence of God.

Why not give yourself completely to God, and His ways; then enjoy the blessings of being in His presence, and experiencing joy unspeakable and full of heaven’s glory.

Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, there is no place I would rather be than in the presence of my Lord.

Father God, I am so grateful that I serve a God who loves me with an everlasting love; who knows me better than anyone, but loves me still. O how sweet is the joy of knowing that the more I give of myself to Him, the more I receive from Him.

Father God, the thirst of my soul is, “O for grace to trust You more”. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Song:

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him,

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er,

Jesus, Jesus, Precious Jesus!

O for grace to trust Him more.
