Have You Considered This Step In Your Growth?

Text:

Proverbs 12:1-3 (NLT)

1  To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction.

2  The LORD approves of those who are good, but he condemns those who plan wickedness.

3  Wickedness never brings stability, but the godly have deep roots.

Observation:

People who are successful in life typically point to many things and people that contributed to their success.

However, there are many in the world today, and in history, who point to what Solomon pointed to in our focal passage, and in this verse in particular.

Proverbs 12:2 (HCSB)

2  The good person obtains favor from the LORD, but He condemns a man who schemes.

In this Proverb, Solomon cites several ways in which the good person or the righteous obtains favor from the Lord. Consider the following examples.

Proverbs 12:5 (HCSB)

5  The thoughts of the righteous {are} just, but guidance from the wicked {leads to} deceit.

Proverbs 12:6 (HCSB)

6  The words of the wicked are a deadly ambush, but the speech of the upright rescues them.

Proverbs 12:14 (HCSB)

14  A man will be satisfied with good by the words of his mouth, and the work of a man’s hands will reward him.

Proverbs 12:18 (HCSB)

18  There is one who speaks rashly, like a piercing sword; but the tongue of the wise {brings} healing.

Prayer:

Father, hallowed by Your name. Father, we agree that You are our Maker, and we are the sheep of Your pasture. Father, we agree with the Word that says:

Jeremiah 10:23 (ESV)

23  I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

Father, we look to You to direct our steps; Lord, we trust in You with our whole heart.

Ephesians 2:10 (ESV)

10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Father, have Your will and Your way in our walk, and may our words and our walk bring glory to God, and favor to our lives. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
