The Best Leader Ever – – Do You Know Him?

Text:

Psalm 23:1 (HCSB)

1 The LORD is my shepherd; there is nothing I lack.

Psalm 23:3 (HCSB)

3  He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name’s sake.

Observation:

What does the Lord do for His people?

  • He cares
  • He provides
  • He guides
  • He protects

When I think about and meditate upon the goodness of the Lord to His people; His love and concern, this song just flooded my soul. I can hear it being sung by one of my devoted prayer supporters who is now in heaven.

Chorus

The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows,

The more that I love Him, more love He bestows;

Each day is like heaven, my heart overflows,

The longer I serve Him, the sweeter He grows.

Ev’ry need He is supplying,

Plenteous grace He bestows;

Ev’ry day my way gets brighter,

The longer I serve Him,

The sweeter He grows.

Author: William Gaither

This is my response to all that the LORD, my Shepherd, has done for me.

“Wherever He leads I’ll go,

Wherever He leads I’ll go,

I’ll follow my Christ who loves me so,

Wherever He leads I’ll go.”

Author: B.B. McKinney

Prayer:

Father, hallowed by your name. I am so glad that You sent Jesus into the world to be our sin bearer, and that He is not only our Savior and Lord, but also our friend. Father, with a grateful heart we say, “Thank You”. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

The Kind of People You Should Not Follow

Text:

Ezekiel 13:22 (KJV)
Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:

Observation:

In every age the people of God need to be aware of the false prophets. We can learn something of the intention and the influence of false prophets by the word that the Lord gave to Ezekiel.

Ezekiel 13:1-2 (KJV)
1 And the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, 2 Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the Lord;

The danger and the damage of false prophets are described in two ways:

  1. They make the hearts of God’s people sad by their lies.
  2. They strengthened the hands of the wicked by their lies.

Beware of the one who preaches a gospel that discourages the righteous, and encourages the wicked. Everything they say the Lord says is not the truth. Examine the Bible for yourself. This type of preacher does not have a bright future.

Ezekiel 13:8 (KJV)
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because ye have spoken vanity, and seen lies, therefore, behold, I am against you, saith the Lord GOD.

Ezekiel 13:23 (KJV)
Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I pray that You would deliver Your people today who are under the influence of false prophets. Father, help us to be like the people of Berea. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Acts 17:11 (NLT)
And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.

Title: Pass in Review – – Looking Up

Text:

Proverbs 3:1-8 (HCSB)
1 My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands;
2 for they will bring you many days, a full life, and well-being.
3 Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. Tie them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.
4 Then you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man.
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding;
6 think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.
7 Don’t consider yourself to be wise; fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
8 This will be healing for your body and strengthening for your bones.

Observation:

This is the season of the year where I take a pause; it’s a time of self-examination and self-evaluation. The place I begin is with the heart because what’s in your heart will determine the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23 (HCSB)
23 Guard your heart above all else, for it is the source of life.

Today’s text has three foundational truths that provide some sound principles for living wisely, and living godly in this world.

1.       Have an obedient heart.

Proverbs 3:1 (HCSB)
1 My son, don’t forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commands;

2.       Have a word filled heart.

Proverbs 3:3 (HCSB)
3 Never let loyalty and faithfulness leave you. Tie them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart.

3.       Have a heart that trust in God.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (HCSB)
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding;
6 think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.

Prayer:

Father God, my dear Father, I am so thankful for Your presence in my heart and in my life. Lord, help me to lean hard and heavily upon You. Father God, I choose the wisdom of God over the wisdom of man. Lord, I have started with Jesus, and I’m going on through; the finish line is in sight, and I have come too far to turn around now. In the power of Jesus I stand; in His steps I walk. Lo! A spring of joy I see. Amen.

All the way my Savior leads me,
Cheers each winding path I tread,
Gives me grace for every trial,
Feeds me with the living bread.
Though my weary steps may falter,
And my soul athirst may be,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see,
Gushing from the Rock before me,
Lo! a spring of joy I see.
