Are You Receiving All That God Has For You?

John 1:35-40 (NLT)

35  The following day John was again standing with two of his disciples.

36  As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!”

37  When John’s two disciples heard this, they followed Jesus.

38  Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”

39  “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place where he was staying, and they remained with him the rest of the day.

40  Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who heard what John said and then followed Jesus.

Observation:

O, the strength and courage that comes when we sit at the feet of our heavenly Father, read His Word, and feast on the guidance of the Holy Spirit of God as He tutors us in the Word of God.

There is something about Jesus that when you look upon Him you are never the same. Notice what happened in our focal passage when John and Peter looked at the Lamb of God.

Noticed what they said to Jesus, “Rabbi (which means Teacher, where are you staying?”

If you are not living in the presence of God; staying with Him all the time, you are lacking what you need to obey His command to be strong, and courageous.

The key to pleasing God, and bearing much fruit is to abide in Him, and abode with Him always.

Prayer:

Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, we are so grateful that when You abide in us, and we abode with You, that we have everything that we need to live in peace, and to serve You productively. So grateful to be Yours, and to live in Your presence now, and forever and ever, Amen.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (ESV)
10  Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11  Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

What Do You Say About Living & Dying?

Text:

Philippians 1:21-26 (HCSB)

21  For me, living is Christ and dying is gain.

22  Now if I live on in the flesh, this means fruitful work for me; and I don’t know which one I should choose.

23  I am pressured by both. I have the desire to depart and be with Christ—which is far better—

24  but to remain in the flesh is more necessary for you.

25  Since I am persuaded of this, I know that I will remain and continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith,

26  so that, because of me, your confidence may grow in Christ Jesus when I come to you again.

Observation:

This is what the Apostle Paul said about living and dying.

Philippians 1:21 (AMP)

21  For me to live is Christ [His life in me], and to die is gain [the gain of the glory of eternity].

The phrase from this verse that resonates with me is, “For me to live is Christ”. Yes, Christ alive; living in me gives me a reason to be hopeful, and fruitful. There are two hymns that I am singing in my heart.

“Living for Jesus, a life that is true,

Striving to please Him in all that I do;

Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,

This is the pathway of blessing for me.”

When Jesus lives in you and me we can’t help but have His character reflected in our living and our service.

“Lord, help me live from day to day

In such a self-forgetful way

That even when I kneel to pray

My prayer shall be for others.”

Prayer:

Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, I thank You for providing the divine presence of Jesus in the hearts of Your people. Father, help us, and empower us to live for Christ in this present world. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
