How Do You See and Respond to Problems?

Today Somebody Prayed for You

Today’s Cup of Wednesday Morning Encouragement by Herb Cotton

Bible Text for Today’s Meditation and Application:

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 King James Version (KJV)

16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

King James Version (KJV)

My Reflections on the Word of God Today:

We should welcome problems into our lives because we cannot escape having issues in this world. Jesus has told us the best course of action is to expect them. Remember I have already provided the means to overcome the result of living in a fallen world.

John 16:33 King James Version (KJV)

33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Our problems are God’s raw materials that will result in a finished product of an overcoming life filled with miracles of God’s love for you.

1 Peter 5:6-7 King James Version (KJV)

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

PRAYER IS A POWER TALK WITH GOD

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT THIS POWER TALK

Get Your Umbrella because it’s getting ready to rain.

James 1:17 King James Version (KJV)

17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

Prayer Offered to Our Father in Heaven:

Our Father in heaven, please enable us by the power of the Holy Spirit within us (Romans 5:5) to live like we are children of God who are loved by You. In the precious and royal name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.

Psalm 89:15 King James Version (KJV)

15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O Lord, in the light of thy countenance.

How Do You Respond to Trouble?

Text:

Deuteronomy 33:27 (KJV)

27  The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them.

Observation:

There is a school of thought that says that we are either fear or anger prone. If this is so, which are you?

In fact, we don’t have to be stuck in either of these responses to external or internal trouble. The secret to deliverance is found in the eternal God; He can be your refuge. This can take place when we broaden our focus from the temporal to the eternal.

The way to live the abundant life through all of the troubles of living in a fallen world is to give your life to Jesus, and receive from Him the gift of eternal life.

1 Peter 2:9-10 (KJV)

9  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light:

10  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

When the risen Christ is alive in you, and the Holy Spirit of God lives in you,   there is nothing that you will lack to live the abundant life in Christ.

1 Peter 1:13-16 (KJV)

13  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

14  As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

15  But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;

16  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Prayer:

Father, hallowed be Your name. Father, we give our whole life to You, and we receive in exchange the life of the living God in us. Father, we rejoice, and shout for joy for the exceeding blessings, and favor You have so generously and gracefully given to us. In the mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Do You Have the Gift That Last Forever?

Text:

John 14:16-17 (HCSB)

16  And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.

17  He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.

Observation:

I have heard some people say that I need to see it before I will believe it. I invite you to consider what you are missing if you hold that belief.

Look around you, and everything that you can see will perish. It behooves all of us to not discount the things that are invisible. Where is your focus? This is where the Apostle Paul put his focus.

2 Corinthians 4:18 (HCSB)

18  So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Are you building you hope on things that are temporal or eternal? I have built my hope in the God who is my maker and my redeemer. I know that He is real because He is alive in me. I love the lyrics of this song, and I share it with you with the prayer that it will speak into your life.

The author is Mary Jane Bane Wilson. If you want some additional encouragement, look up the story of her life. She was an invalid from the age of 4, but she was lifted above her physical shortcomings by the infinite God who came to take up residence in her heart. This is her song.

“1 Time is filled with swift transition,

Naught of earth unmoved can stand,

Build your hopes on things eternal,

Hold to God’s unchanging hand.

Refrain:

Hold to God’s unchanging hand,

Hold to God’s unchanging hand;

Build your hopes on things eternal,

Hold to God’s unchanging hand.”

2 Corinthians 4:17 (HCSB)

17  For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory.

Prayer:

Father, I bow in humility, and look up to You in awe at your wonder, wisdom, and works.

Father, your Word declares, and I believe, that you are infinite, invisible, and inescapable. Father, I believe that nothing is impossible with you.

Father, I surrender my all to you, and in exchange I am blessed to have all of you; not just for a moment in time, but forever and ever, Amen.

Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)
11  So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
