The Word of God says:

Psalms 118:5-9 (NASB77) 5 From my distress I called upon the LORD; The LORD answered me and set me in a large place.6 The LORD is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me?7 The LORD is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall look with satisfaction on those who hate me.8 It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in man.9 It is better to take refuge in the LORD Than to trust in princes.

My reflections on the Word of God:

It is easy to pray when you find yourself facing a very difficult and distressing circumstance in your life, but our prayer life should be cultivated and practiced long before we find ourselves in such dire situations.

Having a vital and regular prayer life is as important to our spiritual life as breathing is to our physical life. An effective prayer life should include praise, confession, thanksgiving, intercession, and supplication.

When we have had time alone with the Lord we are prepared to face any circumstance that we may encounter in our daily walk with the Lord.

My prayer in response to the Word of God:

Our Father in heaven, I praise and thank You for the privilege of prayer, and the opportunity it affords me to have a private and intimate conversation with the Sovereign God who is my creator and my redeemer. Lord, I agree with the psalmist when he said, “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”
