Who or What Is Your Source?

A Bowl of Encouragement by Herb Cotton

God Speaks:

Matthew 6:31-33 King James Version (KJV)

31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Listen to God Speak & Obey:

Today I have the believers in Christ on my mind. It is to those, who by faith, have committed their lives to Jesus. Do you believe this statement by Jesus, “Your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things?”

The following verse should cause us to examine the object of our faith.

Matthew 6:30 King James Version (KJV)

30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

Do you have a confident faith in Our Father in Heaven?

Proverbs 3:5 King James Version (KJV)

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

The Bible says much about faith, but the following is one of my go-to passages when it comes to the belief that pleases God.

1 Peter 5:6-7 King James Version (KJV)

6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:

7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

Who has a confident faith that can say, “I know God sees and cares about me?” Let all who can and are willing unite in a prayer of praise and thanksgiving to our great God.

Prayer:

Our Father in heaven, we exalt You above every name on earth and heaven. We bow low at Your feet and give You honor, glory, and praise.

Father, we are grateful that we have a God who knows our needs and can meet all of our needs.

Father, therefore, we associate ourselves with Your servant David, a man after Your heart, when he wrote these words in Psalm 23.

Psalm 23:1 New Living Translation (NLT)

Psalm 23

A Psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.

Do You Know Him?

Today’s Bowl of Encouragement by Herb Cotton

Bible Text for Today’s Meditation and Application:

John 1:11-13 King James Version (KJV)

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

My Reflections on the Word of God Today:

The following verse was spoken in my hearing last week, and the idea for today’s topic was born. The setting is a blind man that was given his sight by Jesus; the Son of God and self-identified as the Son of Man.

John 9:30 King James Version (KJV)

30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvelous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.

King James Version (KJV)

I did a Google Search asking the question, “Where does it say, “I am the Son of Man?” The answer I got said in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke 69 times.

On the other hand, another major search app told me, “I just don’t get this gender thing.” Of vital importance is what Jesus said about Himself, and how essential it is that we know Him.

John 14:6 King James Version (KJV)

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Do you know Jesus? Do you have a personal relationship with Him?

John 1:12 King James Version (KJV)

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Philippians 3:10-11 New English Translation (NET Bible)

10 My aim is to know him, to experience the power of his resurrection, to share in his sufferings, and to be like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.

Prayer Offered to Our Father in Heaven:

Father, hallowed be Your name. Lord God Almighty, the words of the Apostle Paul represents the aim of my heart, and with our whole heart, I pray that everyone who reads or hears this message will with one voice unite in saying, Amen.

James 1:22 King James Version (KJV)

22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
